Calvin Harris Bio
Born in Dumfries, Scottish native Calvin Harris has been entertaining audiences with his impressive remixing and DJ skills since the early 90's. What started as bedroom demo recordings turned into a full-fledged career for the young talent.
In 2006, an A&R representative signed Harris to EMI. In 2007, Harris released his debut album I Created Disco. Written, produced, and performed solely by Harris, the 15-track release spawned his first two major hits for "Acceptable in the 80's" and "The Girls." During the same year, the album would be certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry, selling 100,000 copies in the United Kingdom. The album also landed at No. 8 on the UK Albums chart.
Shortly after releasing the successful album, Harris began gaining an extensive repertoire while collaborating with major music artists including Kylie Minogue,Groove Armada, and Jamiroquai. In 2009, Harris would release the much-anticipated follow-up to his debut album called Ready for the Weekend. The sophomore album featured the successful track "I'm Not Alone." Shortly after its release, the album debuted at No. 1 on the UK Albums chart. This was also the second album to be certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry. The 14-track album also featured a collaboration with Dizzee Rascal and Chrome on the track "Dance Wiv Me."
In 2012, shortly after touring with R&B singer Rihanna for the UK leg of her "Loud" tour, Harris would release his album for 18 Months. The album spawned several hit singles including "Bounce," "Feel So Close," "We Found Love," and "Let's Go" to name a few. It was the first time that Harris had witnessed a total of nine tracks all hitting within the top ten in the United Kingdom while also reaching No. 1 on the UK Albums chart. The album featured many collaborations as musical artists such as Ne-Yo, Ellie Goulding, and Kelis joined Harris on the album. Due to the success of the singles, the album also peaked at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart, spending a total of seven weeks on the charts.
In 2014, Harris would release his most recent album called Motion. The 15-track album featured the most recent hits for "Blame," "Summer," and "Outside." Motion peaked at No. 2 on the UK Albums charts while also peaking at No. 1 on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums charts.
Calvin Harris's latest chart-topping success to hit the radio airwaves is "How Deep is Your Love." It has already reached the top ten in several countries while peaking at No. 2 for Billboard's Top U.S. Dance Club Songs chart.
